The early appearance of ticks in the southern region of Belarus was facilitated by the warm and rather dry weather established in recent days.

It is reported that by March 5, in the Brest region, doctors registered seven cases of tick attacks on people, three children among the victims. Moreover, of the five arthropods studied in the laboratory, two were infected with borreliosis.

According to the Brest Regional Center for Hygiene and Epidemiology, insect attacks occurred in private courtyards, summer cottages, in forest park areas and places for walking domestic animals.

According to doctors, this year in the region the first bite was recorded on January 7 – a child was injured, on which the tick moved from a log of wood.

Entomologists have warned that you can protect yourself from bites by observing simple rules: use repellents, put on clothing that closes the body as much as possible, and also examine yourself after walking in nature.
