Belarusian parliamentarians plan to consider a number of bills in the spring, including amendments to the law on assisted reproductive technologies. The problem of demography, according to the deputy, is very relevant.
“Today, unfortunately, the number of infertile couples is growing. We have about 14% of couples who are married who are infertile. Moreover, not only female infertility, but also male infertility is growing,” Kursevich stated, her words are quoted by Komsomolskaya Pravda.
So, the law provides for an increase in the age norm for sperm donors from 40 to 50 years. The maximum age of women – egg donors will also increase: relatives will be able to do this up to 49 years, the rest – up to 35.
If parliamentarians accept the changes, the age of the surrogate mother will also be increased to 49 years, but only for the relatives of patients. It is also assumed that a woman will be able to freeze and save her eggs for the future in the absence of medical indications.
There is a suggestion from investigators: at the birth of children from a surrogate mother, the baby will undergo a mandatory genetic examination.
