The attitude of scientists towards chicken eggs as a source of cholesterol has changed dramatically over the past few years: if five years ago it was believed that too much of their consumption leads to health problems, then the eggs were "rehabilitated" and the maximum daily intake levels were canceled.
Scientists from Northwestern University of the United States conducted a large-scale study of the effect of cholesterol on human health. As a result, they came to the conclusion that consuming large amounts of cholesterol from chicken eggs have a significantly higher risk of cardiovascular disease.
“As part of a healthy diet, people should consume less cholesterol. People who consume less cholesterol have a lower risk of heart disease,” study co-author Norrina Allen told medical media at MedicalExpress.
One large egg contains about 186 milligrams of cholesterol. Moreover, according to new studies, it is not recommended to consume more than 300 milligrams per day.

At the same time, researchers warn: other products of animal origin, including red meat and fatty dairy products, have a high cholesterol content. Scientists do not call for a complete rejection of these products (they have many health benefits), but note: they should be consumed in moderation.
